Prof. Moshe Kotler studied medicine at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem and was awarded a fellowship at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City in the Department of Psychiatry. Prof. Kotler also has a degree in Mental Health Administration at the Ben-Gurion University in Beer Sheva.
Prof. Kotler has a prolific carrier in academia; he has taught psychiatry in Israel and abroad for more than twenty years. He was the vice-dean for Medical Education at Ben Gurion University, where he also performed as the chairperson of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Division of Psychiatry.
His clinical experience spans academia, hospitals, government, the military and more. Prof. Kolter served as the Director of Suicide and Aggression Research at the Einstein Medical School, He was the director of the Beersheba Mental Health Center and the Medical Director of the Einstein College of Medicine Substance Abuse Program. He also served as the Director of Outpatient Psychiatry at the Sheba Hospital, Tel Hashomer.
For thirteen years he served as the Chairperson of the Israel National Council for Mental Health and Israel Psychiatric Association while acting as director of the Beer-Yaakov and Ness-Ziona, Mental Health Centers. As a colonel in the Israeli Defense Forces, (IDF), he is the Chief Mental Health Advisor and the IDF’s Rehabilitation Department.
Prof. Kolter’s present responsibilities include consulting as a member of the chief Scientist Review Board of the Ministry of Health, the Israeli Society of Addiction Association as well as the IDF mental health services. He is an expert in the treatment of post-trauma with cannabis.
